The True Name for Tea is Cha 茶

This is about tea. Scratch that. This blog is about cha which is the true and proper name of all beverages concocted from the camellia sinensis plant. The word tea has become so misused there is no choice but to call tea by its real name, Cha. I said CHA! The Chinese call it cha. The Japanese call it cha. In Yorkshire it is cha. In India and Russia it is chai or cha. Anything brewed from any other plant is a tisane, not a tea. But instead of arguing, just give tea back its real name…cha. 茶
